Some Background Information – Starting My Photography Business

Hey,

So this is my first blog post over on this blog. I do own another blog called JenJbBoutique but that is hosted on a different platform so I am trying to get to grips with this.

I am hoping there will be an about me section up by the time I publish this post but just a quick background check. I am a 27 year old based in Essex. I am a wife and a mummy to an amazing 18 month old toddler.

Photography is something I have always had a passion for I used to spend ages taking pictures when I was a child. Lining all my teddies up positioning them and then popping along to boots to get them developed. The excitement of waiting to see how they turned out.

When I started college one of my A Level choices was Photography. I however made it to the two week mark and decided taking pictures of my feet wasn’t what I signed up for. I thought I was going to be part of some amazing design team with stylist, hair and makeup artist. Jen’s dream world at it’s finest. Anyhow I switched to Dance along with performing arts, accountancy, sociology and general studies.

After college I had a little bit of time in front of the camera through promotional work, the odd modelling job and some extra work that I took part in. I loved the industry and knew I would return but in what capacity I wasn’t sure.

This year I married my darling husband and we were surrounded by other happy couples tying the knot. I loved looking at other peoples albums. I saw how happy those images made people. As a creative person and people pleaser I wanted to be the one creating these images, their memories.

I have some experience with taking pictures due to having my other blog and I love the whole process of taking the image and editing them. I also have a youtube channel in which I create and edit videos, again I love the whole process.

Speaking to my husband I kept saying I want to do this, I need to do this. As the ever supportive man that he is he bought me my first ever DSLR camera as a late birthday pressie at the end of June of this year. More on that in my next post.

And so it begins my journey to starting my own photography business. I know it isn’t going to be easy. I know there are 100’s, 1000’s if not 10s of 1000’s of photographers out there all wanting to have a successful photography business but I have something they don’t have….. me. I don’t say that to be full of myself but in the respect that we are all unique and see things differently. I will capture an image in a different way to someone else and hopefully lots of people will like my style, my eye, my passion, my personality and my need to please.
